They're Not You

They're Not You

I’m guessing that you got into this industry because of one or more of the following:

  • You’ve always loved fitness.

  • You were involved in sports and this feels like an extension of being an athlete.

  • You had a positive experience with fitness and wanted to make that your career.

  • You love helping people.

And you probably are very clear about the importance of a fit & healthy lifestyle.

Maybe you’re already good at consistently making good choices about nutrition and organizing your days to get good workouts and be active.

The whole health and fitness thing…that’s likely your comfort zone.

But it’s not your prospect's.

See, they’re not you.

They already feel busy…and that’s without going to the gym 3 days per week & cooking at home instead of running through Chick-fil-A for dinner.

They’ve not had a totally positive experience when it comes to fitness and weight loss.

Being physically active may not be part of their daily routine.

The thing you’re selling may be an area of strength for you…but it’s not for them.

So, what you’re asking them to change and do is a pretty big ask.

And, as you’re asking them to rearrange their life, get out of their comfort zone and pay you for the privilege of doing those things…

…my suggestion is to understand that they’re not you.

They’re themselves.

Meet them where they are and help them get to where they want to be.

That’s different than judging them for not being you and it’s different than making them feel bad about the bumps in the road that always come up when someone is making a big change.

If you want to be different from the average fitness business and if you want to succeed in a market where competition is everywhere…

…heed this advice.

Understand who you’re serving…and who they’re not.

Then, help them become the person they want to be.

Dedicated to Your Success,

Pat
