WHAT THEY ARE DOING

They're?strengthening agricultural value chains in Cambodia.

This means that Cambodia’s agriculture sector will have better post-harvest logistics facilities, improved agricultural production and services infrastructure, and enhanced business partnerships to improve farm-to-market connectivity.

Specifically, they're strengthening the value chains of competitive agricultural products—cassava, mangoes, cashew nuts, vegetables, and native chickens—in the provinces of Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, and Tboung Khmum. About 230 agricultural cooperatives, about 27,000 households, and about 50 agribusinesses are expected to benefit from the initiative.

HOW THEY ARE DOING IT

  • Rural farmers will be given access to credit for agro-enterprises and agricultural cooperatives. Viable market links among these enterprises and cooperatives will be facilitated with a focus on enhancing food safety and quality.
  • Participating financial institutions will provide the agro-enterprises and agricultural cooperatives mechanisms to access capital. Some 230 agricultural cooperatives will be engaged to address critical bottlenecks in the value chains.
  • Mobility of agriculture products will also be promoted by improving 110 kilometers of farm-to-market roads. Twenty-two clay roads will be upgraded with climate change adaptation measures incorporated into the road improvement designs.
