As the summer officially starts in the Netherlands, we are excited to bring you the latest updates from IHS! Get a glimpse of student life from Elisabeth, Charles and Meiraj, delve deeper into development corridors with Gitasanti, who recently defended her PhD, read about research on socio-economic development in Polish cities, and see how we organise tailor-made training.

Researching peri-urban areas, land use and spatial justice in the Netherlands

Elisabeth Rohde , Charles Biney , and Meiraj Najm K. conduct thesis research on a sustainability challenge set by external organisations as part of the Thesis Lab by the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities Centre for Sustainability.

Exploring Indonesia's Strategic Development Regions Corridors Programme

Meet Dr Gitasanti Djais , who has recently defended her PhD dissertation on development corridors in Indonesia. Her research dives into how the governance of this innovative programme influences and shapes the behaviours of the involved actors.

How administrative degradation affects middle-sized cities

In this research paper, Dr. Paula Nagler , Prof. Frank van Oort , and IHS alumnus Borys Cie?lak examine the impact of Poland's 1998 regional reform on the socio-economic development of middle-sized cities.

Appointment


Lasse Gerrits is the new Network chair at ESSB and IHS

Lasse Gerrits has been recently appointed as the new Network chair at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB) and the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies. A network Chair is a professorship that bridges between two organisations to strengthen the academic anchoring between them.
