There’s Unmatched Value in Nurse Recognition

“As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may not remember your name, but they will never forget the way you made them feel.”
This quote by Maya Angelou is one of my favorites. Every day, nurses make a difference in the lives of others – and often, they do so without any recognition at all. Most nurses don’t mind, they’ll tell you its part of the job. Like teachers or first responders, nursing professionals are self-less and don’t expect to receive recognition for a job well done. But, if you’re a nurse leader, recognition of nursing caregivers should always be front-and-center. Not only do your nurses deserve it – your organization will benefit from it.
As a nurse leader, I’ve learned that recognizing nurses for the work they do is a great way to showcase your deep appreciation for them and their contributions. Additionally, meaningful recognition can also positively impact employee morale, improve engagement and foster an environment of team building. It can renew a nurse’s commitment to their profession, bestow added pride in their work, and deepen their loyalty to both nursing team and healthcare organization. Without question, there’s unmatched value in nurse recognition.
As nurses throughout the nation will soon come together to celebrate National Nurses Week 2018, there’s no better time than the present to show your fellow nurses how much they are valued. 6 年Many of the hospitals Values Coach has worked with use the DAISY Award to honor extraordinary nurses and we are proud to be a DAISY Partner. Bonnie Barnes, FAAN and Mark Barnes are healthcare heroes because of the way that they have turned their personal grief into a beautiful gift for the nurses of the world. Happy Nurses Week!
