Understanding the Financial Headlines
“Fears of a disorderly Brexit forces Sterling out of tight range”
There would have been nothing ambiguous to a British holiday maker , travelling to mainland Europe within the last few weeks, about the above headline ,as the Euro cost of just about everything required for that 2 weeks on the Med coast, increased dramatically. No lack of interest there of an issue that is tangible and easily understood if you are a British tourist, with the negative impact on that precious 2 weeks. As is the opposite affect though if you are holidaying in the UK from almost any other developed country.
Other headlines such as: “Intensifying Trade tensions beat down Renminbi to lowest point of the year”, or “India index in worst July for 17 years amid economic woes” might be ignored altogether by most folk going about their everyday lives ,where as anything to do with “Trump’s escalation of Trade War with China” is likely to raise some interest simply perhaps because it involves “that Man” again, rather than how the protracted trade dispute might affect both their current and future incomes.
Which of the many daily Audio Visual or Written finance headlines should be considered important enough to take some notice of? The answer is likely to be more than we think, but just how many hard working individuals who might be saving for their futures, would be motivated enough to find out from a qualified source, if the ‘US Fed Reserve’s interest rate plans, are going to be a good or bad thing for their investment plan, or is now the right time to have Gold as an asset in my portfolio? Should I be investing at least some of my cash in Stock Market funds that are now priced 3 % lower than they were this time last week? In this age of Social Media opinions and On line investing, probably not that many , but they are likely to be the same individuals who wouldn’t hesitate to take their car to a garage if an engine fault is suspected.
Now might be the time to overcome those pent up suspicions and take your financial plans for a 1 year checkup, that will likely cost you less than taking the car to the garage
By the way, the THEM referred to in the headline are the minority of the Global population who own and manage 95% of it’s wealth
