There’s something in the air!

2021 for me began with a new hope..Mid of Feb I joined Tech Mahindra and this post is about my reflections on being a TechMighty. My journey started with series of interviews and the most exciting part of it was being interviewed by the CEO Mr C P Gurnani himself and the CPO Harsh, I mean which other company gives you this big opportunity to interact with who’s who of the organization.

We are a group of 20 young leaders of their flagship program “35 under 35”. and were inducted in a 21 days learning program at their lush green Sahyadri Campus in Pune.

It already feels like I am here for a couple of months and in a good way. I have interacted with so many people, made many good friends, and learnt a few new traits about myself too. There is something different about this company- a sense of urgency, awareness & acknowledgement to change and purpose to make a difference.

Culture does eat strategy for breakfast!

Small things make a big difference: As part of the onboarding process which started a week before my actual joining, I was expecting just the laptop. I received along with that is a box of chocolate, flowers and a letter from the Chief People’s officer welcoming to the family.

Pre-onboarding started a week before when we had an hour-long session every day telling us a bit about the TechM, Industry, some acronyms and gamification techniques to ensure we grasp faster.

Culture makes us feel that we belong. When joining an organization we have a fear of the unknown, we can be confident of our abilities but there is always doubt about what’s in store for us, that’s when the importance of culture and the team kicks in.

At each step 20 of us who joined were reassured by the leaders that we are here to create impact and “drive positive change” we are here to lead. Whenever we attended a meeting, finished a presentation completed a session we celebrated each moment with all our heart and sometimes with a dance. We interacted with the leadership and the young leaders who have created an impact. TechM has empowered them to Rise. That is the culture at Tech Mahindra “Driving positive change, celebrating each moment, and empowering all to Rise

Everyone at TechM right from pre-onboarding talks about Extreme ownership and it is the single most important trait which differentiates good and great leaders and I could not agree more. The first impression of extreme ownership was when the young sales enablement team made sure or entire onboarding, travel and stay was smooth. My learning experience was made memorable by great mentors KG(Krishna Gopal — head of sales enablement) & Riaz(head of learning & talent dev) their simplicity and humbleness are out of the world.

We travelled to Pune and we stayed on the beautiful campus, every day we met leaders and got to know more about the company. The Inspiring in-person session by leaders CEO C P Gurnani, CPO — Harsh, and others show their investment in this program and the extreme ownership of travelling in COVID times.

To summarize in these sessions we were told the Power of alternate thinking, dream big be bold and accepting no limits, and driving positive change by creating value for communities and customer.

Finally My Team! My family!

I am so happy to have met 20 people with such varied background joining an organization for a common cause. And they were my family for 2 weeks we competed, laughed, partied and stayed together. Now that we came back to our own respective locations, assigned different projects, we will be located in different geographies we will still have these first 3 weeks engrained in our lives a sense of comradery, a bond and family within the company. Thank you Team for making my experience a memorable one :)

PS: Yes we were in a bio bubble so sometimes we took off our masks, we got ourselves tested thrice in 15 days and none was COVID positive :)
