There's much work to be done...

A couple of months ago some research came out showing that a substantial proportion of people thought the move towards gender equity was unnecessary.?Many women rolled their eyes or raised their eyebrows upon seeing this. This global UN report shows exactly why it is still very much needed.? 9 out of 10 people surveyed were biased against women and 40% believed men were better business executives.??
What do you think? Is gender bias alive and well in your workplace? Share your stories in the comments.
On allyship…
This recent research showed that men believe they are being allies when actually they are being supportive but not actually taking allyship actions.??
If men are letting poor behaviour slide in a meeting and then expressing sympathy with women colleagues after the meeting that isn't allyship.
Often the intention is there but men don’t feel equipped with the knowledge of how best to be allies and that's where my team and I can help.? If you’d like to equip men to be allies for gender equity do get in touch with me to chat about our talks, workshops and allyship toolkit.
Women are being undermined at work…
This report highlighted the ‘tall poppy syndrome’ that women experience in the workplace “The research study not only found that men in leadership positions were more likely to penalise or undermine women due to their success, but that this manifested in a number of different ways. In fact, 77% of respondents said that they had had their achievements downplayed, 72.4% had been left out of meetings and discussions and 66.1% said others had taken credit for their work.

A great and very honest listen if you aspire to be a Director or are a new Director. Gabi’s approach is very growth mindset oriented and I really enjoyed our conversation. Listen here.
