There's No Longer Any Shame
In regards to our above normal temps, it was definitely a remarkable day, and while out this afternoon, I noticed it hovering around 55 degrees. Wow! Now that's something to write home about. Of course the wind was starting to pick up, but not to the point of being annoying.
Most of my morning was spent making a few rounds with payments and drop-offs, along with getting all the emailed docs printed out I'd been waiting on for far too long, but when a agent is only representing one side of a given transaction, there are times when a person feels hostage to the whims of the other side.
There were several calls that had come in from prospective buyers who were wanting to look at several of my listings, so I now have them set up for later this week, which gives me comfort in knowing there are still active buyers in our market. One particular call was a gentleman asking if I had the covenants on file of a particular subdivision, and since I don't have all of them on file, the only advise I could give him, was to contact our abstract company. The strangest of it all, was his admitting that he was working with another agent. I very much wanted to say, “Why hasn't your agent supplied them to you instead of calling another real estate office?”
My early afternoon appointment took me to an acreage which I'd not yet shown, which prompted me to get there before the buyers, just so I could get a little familiar with it before their arrival. It ended up being an average showing, but while outdoors, I was in shock over how strong the wind was blowing, and so much so, I felt that if I had a long trench coat on and held out my arms, I would've gone flying. I came to believe that site is one of the many wind tunnels we have in North Iowa.
Im hoping before the sun rises tomorrow morning, I'll have two properties sold, which will be back-to-back transactions. One of the sales happens to be a diamond in the rough property where I could actually see myself living, and only because it fits the bulk what I consider on my list being a 'must have'. Yes, it has the correct elevation, number of old growth trees, overall square footage, and the list goes on. I told the buyers I could already see in my mind's eye what that'll look like once they've had their way with it. Unbeknownst to them, properties like that, don't come on the market in that low of a price range, so every carefully selected improvement they make, will rapidly increase its value. Good for them.

While visiting with a casual friend of mine today, I couldn't help bringing up the subject of how many have become careless with their jobs, to where they're only exerting half or even less effort in various workplaces. In a stern voice I said, “I've come to believe there's no longer any shame in being lazy.” Of course my friend couldn't help agreeing with me, which prompted me to say how completely different it was back when I was young because even if someone was teasingly saying another was lazy or half-baked with their work output, a huge kicking-back would take place. Truth be told, I see it happening on a near daily basis, which bothers me greatly. Whatever happened to pride in workmanship? Oh my goodness, how times have changed.
As I was driving home this evening, there must've been a serious accident with more than one vehicle because I dare say likely every vehicle in the firehouse was heading in a westerly direction on Hwy 122. I'll have to pay close attention to our local news tomorrow morning.
Tonight's One-liner is: You've really got to start hitting the history books because it's no joke out here.
