There’s an AI for that…

If you’re like me, you use ChatGPT on occasion but find its limitations frustrating. Much of the time it seems like it’s actually getting worse, even with simple things. I’ve been trying to avoid using it and have been looking for alternatives, whether it be for fun, just to experiment, or actual work stuff. Recently I came across a site, theresanaiforthat.com. It seems there has been a real boom lately with lots of AI models popping up, especially niche ones. This site has collected and categorized thousands of AIs from user submissions. It also shows which ones are free, and which ones have a fee. I haven’t tried many of these, but I thought I’d mention some of the more interesting ones I have come across.

GPTExcel will generate and explain formulas for Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. I am excited to try this one as I use ChatGPT for some of the more complex Excel formulas and it just doesn’t seem to work as well as it used to. https://theresanaiforthat.com/ai/gptexcel/

Alcotravel generates suggestions for travel itineraries. Even though I enjoy it, traveling stresses me out for many reasons. Trying to make the trip worthwhile is one of those because why go anywhere if you’re just going to do the same things you would do at home? Video2Recipe seems like a cool idea. There are lots of AIs that transcribe audio from a video, but this one has a twist that I’m sure you can guess from its name. There are also several for generating code in various programming languages or converting from one language to another. There’s the image and video generators that are always being talked about. I’ve come across some that can separate parts of an audio track that you can use to make a karaoke version. There are all sorts of different categories, some you’ve seen before like image or text generation, and some that are more surprising. Check it out, whether for productivity or for fun.
