Not sure about AI? Here's what you need to consider...
With the rapid advancements in AI, project managers should take proactive steps to leverage AI technologies for their organisations.
1.Stay Updated with AI Trends: PMs need to check out latest AI trends, tools, and technologies relevant to project management. This could include subscribing to industry AI network groups, blogs, podcasts, attending webinars, conferences or workshops focused on AI in project management.
2. Learn AI Basics: PMs should develop a foundational understanding of AI, including machine learning, natural language processing, data handling, algorithms, and automation processes and predictive analytics. Online courses and certifications from platforms like LinkedIn, edX, or Udacity can provide valuable knowledge.
3. Experiment with PM AI Tools: Try using AI-powered project management tools that offer features such as automated scheduling, resource allocation, minute taking and predictive analytics, with tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, Zoom or Trello

4. Understand why Good Quality, Reliable Data is Essential: AI relies heavily on data, so PMs should understand what quality data means, where it can be sourced within an organisation, and harness the best for use by AI tools to provide accurate insights and solutions. Good Quality Data = Useful AI outputs! Bad Quality Data, not so!
5. Foster a Collaborative Team Culture with AI: Promote a culture where team members are encouraged to learn about AI and discuss how it could be adopted. Make sure you consider how some of the team may welcome AI - encourage open discussions about it. As it learns, repetitive tasks may be reduced, supported by human intervention as it learns. Note that soft skills like critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence, cannot be replicated by AI. These skills will remain crucial for teams, for projects, working with stakeholders, and driving project success.
7. Pilot AI Projects: Experiment with small-scale AI projects to understand how these tools can be applied within your organisation and provide insights into potential benefits and limitations. Best implemented using an iterative approach. For example, try AI driven Chatbots for your website, or try using CoPilot or ChatGPT.
8. Adopt Agile Methodologies: AI’s integration may require frequent adjustments in workflows and processes. Using agile project management practices can help PMs remain flexible and adapt quickly to changes driven by AI technologies
