Welcome to the April edition! It's been a pretty crazy time in the world of talent across marketing and technology. As of April 2023, the hiring landscape in the marketing and technology sectors remains highly competitive, even with the rounds of massive layoffs.
Despite the ongoing pandemic and economic uncertainty, businesses in these industries continue to prioritize hiring top talent to remain competitive and adapt to rapidly evolving market conditions.
In the marketing sector, businesses continue to prioritize hiring for roles that specialize in digital marketing, data analytics, and content creation. Additionally, there is a growing emphasis on hiring candidates with experience in emerging marketing technologies, such as artificial intelligence (Chat GPT) and virtual reality.
The hiring landscape in the web3 sector is still somewhat-active, although it has slowed down with VC funding drying up. There is still a high demand for individuals with skills in blockchain, smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi), and other emerging technologies.
As more Web2 businesses and industries explore the potential of blockchain-based systems and applications, the demand for skilled professionals in this space is expected to continue growing. In addition to web3 startups, established companies in industries such as finance, healthcare, and logistics are also exploring the potential of blockchain and other web3 technologies. These companies are actively seeking individuals with experience in these areas to help them develop and implement new solutions.
Overall, the web3 sector is still relatively new and rapidly evolving, with many opportunities for professionals with the right skills and experience. As the industry continues to grow and mature, it is likely that the demand for web3 talent will only continue to increase.
Despite the ongoing demand for talent, companies are facing challenges in attracting and retaining qualified candidates. This is partly due to the increasing competition for top talent, as well as the ongoing preference for remote work options among job seekers.
Overall, hiring managers in both sectors are seeking candidates who can demonstrate a strong combination of technical and interpersonal skills, along with a willingness to learn and adapt to changing industry trends. Candidates need to continue to put themselves in the best light and stay focused and disciplined in their job search during these tough times.
My advice, treat every day on the job search like a real job. Plan your work and work your plan!

NYC NFT Week (April)?I was only in the city for one day but made the most of it starting with our partners Red Beard Ventures VC lunch where I got to hang out again with Sallie Jain. From there we checked out NFT Now's, Now Pass holder party at the Crown downtown (incredible views) and followed by the Knights of Degen party at the 40/40 Club.
Yes, we partied for sure, but it was all about reconnecting and deepening old and new relationships in this bear market.
Coming Up:?I am excited to head out to Austin next week (4/25-28) for Consensus. Please reach out if you will be in town to meet up!
