Hey there, welcome to our May newsletter! Over the past month, we’ve been busy engaging with the streaming community. Our CTO Pieter-Jan Speelmans spoke at Streaming Tech Sweden, we participated in Streaming Media NYC and the App.js conference, and we hosted our very own THEOCon for video tech enthusiasts. Plus, we also have the latest THEOplayer product updates to share with you. Let's take a look!
What's New?
?? THEOplayer Maven Repository
We're moving the THEOplayer Android package from Jitpack to our new THEOplayer Maven Repository. This change will make it even easier for you to navigate and include our THEOplayer Android releases in your projects.?
If you're currently using the THEOplayer Android package from Jitpack, you can now switch to the new link from Maven. Don't worry, we'll keep both options available for now and give you notice before we stop publishing to Jitpack.
?? THEOplayer Latency Manager
Ensuring consistent latency across different platforms and devices is crucial for a seamless streaming experience. With THEOplayer Latency Manager, you regain control over latency settings, allowing you to pre-set target latency for your LL-HLS and LL-DASH streams. This ensures that all your streams are synchronized and playing out simultaneously, providing a cohesive viewing experience across all devices.

??? Navigating Ultra-Low Latency in Unstable Networks: A Case Study Exploration
At the Streaming Tech Sweden conference, our CTO Pieter-Jan Speelmans talked about how to achieve ultra-low latency in unstable network environments. He presented a case involving hundreds of locations using consumer networks for real-time content on large screens, facing challenges like latency jitter and packet loss with WebRTC. He explained the impact of these instabilities and explored an innovative solution using SRT and HESP with THEOlive. We’ll share the recording with you once it’s available!
