Theatrical Moments

Theatrical Moments

An interesting thing about human psychology is that we are more likely to pay attention to theatrical moments than we are to other information.

For example, more people have died in history due to air pollution than nuclear fallout, yet people will regularly express greater fear about a nuclear power plant than a coal burning power plant simply because the “theatrical moment” of a nuclear fallout is so much more memorable.?

Moreover, the odds of dying in a car crash are 1/93 compared to dying in a plane crash 1/ 2 million, however the “theatrical moment” of dying from a plane crash prevents many people from flying at all.?

The key is that “theatrical moments” are much more memorable and motivating than other information.

When sharing stories with our prospects we can make use of this.?

Without exaggeration, we can use what they will remember and respond to, to make our communication more powerful.?

For example, If we can paint the picture for our prospects of loss of time, money or sanity due to not acting on a problem, this is much more impactful than simply pointing out potential gains.

Sharing the story of the tragedy our clients face, BEFORE painting the picture of the potential outcomes they can create is an important part of making our messaging stick.?

Don’t shy away from the theatrical moments to make a mark on your prospect and connect with them.?
