Theatrical Entreprenuer Explains Self
Theatrical Entrepreneur Explains Himself with Interviewer Peggy Molloy
SANCHEZ: "I was hungry to collaborate and participate in making theatre that was of, by, and for young theatremakers..."
MOLLOY: This I might add is in sharp contrast to my dramatic writing instructor at the American Conservatory Theatre School in San Francisco in the 1980's, where we were taught that the majority of Broadway writers are over the age of 55 years old.
What is the name of your company and what do you do?
SANCHEZ: Lime Arts Productions was founded in 2015 in an effort to provide low-risk educational opportunities and experiences for young artists. We've accomplished this mission in our 5-year history through producing shows, workshop series, publishing a book, and, more recently, with our Twenty By Twenty Fringe (TBTF), TBTF was conceived in an effort to provide a platform for audiences to watch bold, innovative, and intimate new work that reflects justice, equity, and resonance.
MOLLOY: What triggered you to establish your company?
SANCHEZ: I was hungry to collaborate and participate in making theatre that was of, by, and for young theatremakers. Frankly, I never found an organization that was doing just that so I decided to create an organization to fill that niche. We've had an interesting history and portfolio of projects throughout the last five years, largely in response to our community's voices.
MOLLOY: Who is your target audience? How do you plan to approach those who may be interested in your projects?
SANCHEZ: Our target audience are individuals and theatre practitioners hungry to see work that values justice, equity, and resonance. We have a plethora of opportunities to collaborate, both as an audience member and an artist. As as audience member, following us on social media (@limeartsproductions) or signing up for our newsletter is the best way to stay updated on future projects.
As an artist, we welcome folks with a variety of backgrounds - first-timers, theatre-as-a-hobby artists, aspiring professionals, and everyone in between.

MOLLOY: Does the company satisfy you as a Creator and Entrepreneur?
SANCHEZ: In short, it absolutely does. When I produce or direct with the company, it serves my artistic fulfillment. When I observe others work with the company, it brings me immense joy knowing the "Lime Arts Legacy" serves as this same artistic fulfillment or others.
As with any type of entrepreneurship, there's a slew of highs and lows working as a leader in a small organization. Through this, however, the passion to serve our community and those "a-ha moments" of creativity our artists have, are what fuel me.
MOLLOY: What are your plans for growth in the immediate future?
SANCHEZ: Our largest project to date was a pilot of the Twenty By Twenty Fringe earlier this year. It was a critical, audience, and community success -- garnering the artistry o 172 young artists throughout the country who collaborated in bringing 20 new works to life for 50 performances.
This forced our company to grow exponentially and we will continue to grow in the immediate future as we are already in development for our next (2nd) Twenty By Twenty Fringe. Growth is a beautiful opportunity that allows us to document and archive, build infrastructure, and bring in new artistic leaders.
MOLLOY: I am thrilled if this renewal of live theatre may be an outgrowth of the isolation our society has experienced due to the Covid Era. I wish you every happiness and success.
