And Thats A Wrap! Van Tour Grand Finale!

And Thats A Wrap! Van Tour Grand Finale!

And that's a wrap! The tour has officially finished and at risk of sounding over zealous it was possibly the best promotional event in the history of the Canadian technology channel! Nothing has been dreamt up like this before, or at least if it was there has been nothing executed on this scale with this much success.

Here are some of the details on the scale of this amazing tour!

  • 16 Vendor Partners
  • 15 Consecutive weeks of events
  • 60 + partners visited!
  • 15 Cities
  • 15,000 KM's! (that's over 9300 miles for our friends in the US!)
  • 2000+ attendees
  • 150,000+ impressions on social media between the Transistor Van and this blog alone!
  • 1 van break down
  • 2 locked keys in van (I can't help but feel partially responsible for 1 of those)
  • 1 phone call from Terry Fox's brother
  • Almost $10,000 raised for the Terry Fox Foundation

The only way something like this is successful is through planning, patience, perseverance, and paying attention to the details. I don't know if anyone else in the industry has the same level of detail that organizer Noah Jacobs has shown in executing something like this. It required a lot.

We participate in similar events at distribution that have an entire marketing team planning and executing just a one-day event like this. Noah planned and successfully executed more than 60 of them. Pretty much by himself. Not only did he take care of ALL of the details he drove the van full of equipment to each event personally! That's more than 60 events at more than 60 partners. Each of which had unique details on locations, timing, vendor mix, food, customers etc. Triangulate that with 16 vendors who have multiple regional reps, as many marketing contacts, each with unique rules and regulations and it sounds more like a recipe for disaster! Noah pulled it off as smooth as a silk bow tie.

A big CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to you Noah. You have earned a well deserved rest but we all know that you wont rest for long!

While we kicked the tour off in April in St John's Newfoundland the van itself started and stopped in Quebec, Noah's home province. The tour finished up last week in Montreal with some great events at Inso, Millenium Micro, Group Access, and others.

One of the common themes this tour was around some great food and we saved the absolute best for last. A Tour Wrap party at Gibby's in Old Montreal!

Now for 2023? There are plans for something similar next year but details are still being kept hush-hush. More to come in due time!

Thank you to all who have taken time to read how Microsoft Teams Rooms hit the road in Canada this summer. Honestly, when I first put together this Linkedin Newsletter I had no idea that it would email my entire contact list! A list that I have made quite extensive over my career. I felt a certain sense of responsibility to share something meaningful, fun and personal. I hope you enjoyed it too. Until next time! - MM
