That's why he's Mr Tesla and I'm not
I was really amazed reading the news today (https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2015/02/12/this-new-tesla-battery-will-power-your-home-and-maybe-the-electric-grid-too/) about Mr. Tesla announcing the next launch of a battery for your house.
Many of us would ask "why the hell do you need a battery for your house? It is a bit less mobile than a smartphone and tends to consume much more energy, so why a battery?"
This is the question, in my opinion, that creates the difference between every one of us and a millionaire: the millionaire has a smart answer to it, everyone else doesn't.
Actually a battery is a very smart ideas when your house starts producing electricity and, instead of selling to someone, you may want to store for when your energy company network is collapsing for overload. And guess what? It is from many years that our houses are able to produce electricity in excess with the usage of solar panels and other techniques. So adding a battery could give "smart cities" further flexibility to manage, locally, the usage and storage of energy.
No even need to mention the technical capability to build such a battery, able to manage the quantity of energy needed or produces by a house. For sure, no doubts if this comes from the man able to have a great car running 400 miles on a single charge (https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2014/12/26/elon-musk-the-new-tesla-roadster-can-travel-some-400-miles-on-a-single-charge/)
