Metamaterial Technologies Inc (MTI) opened in 2010 with a vision to be a leader in the emergent metamaterials industry as a design house using algorithms to develop new materials. Three years ago, due to supply chain challenges and new opportunities, the company pivoted to become a volume manufacturer of sustainable advanced and functional materials in addition to our design capabilities.

We engaged with Aerospace customers initially and have expanded to diverse industries such as Automotive and Consumer Electronic, to increase awareness of the incredible value that metamaterials offer as solutions to these industries. As a result, we gained insights that made us rethink our business model. We became extremely focused on solutions for mass manufacturing supply chains and realized that industrial scale manufacturing of advanced and functional materials would require us to develop new ways to produce nano-composite materials and simultaneously enable customers to de-risk the use of newly designed materials – metamaterials. It was a transformational moment for us.

We have expanded our in-house capabilities by developing holographic manufacturing (nano-patterning of polymer-based materials) and by acquiring technologies that can offer extraordinary scale and value such as our proprietary lithographic (nano patterning metals and semi-conducting materials) and wireless sensing (printed electronics) materials. Today, along with our design capabilities, these four technology pillars form the core technology platform.

We are proud to announce that earlier this month, our company became a publicly listed company on the Canadian Securities Exchange, trading under the symbol “MMAT”, and the Company’s legal name has changed to Metamaterial Inc. – or META for short.

The word “META” comes from the Greek meaning to go beyond. Our new META brand identity aims to capture the company’s mission: To make every product smarter and more sustainable by utilizing light and advanced materials. It supports our greater vision "To democratize nanotechnology and help improve human life”. Our goal is to deliver high performance scalable products for our customers.

This name change is a result of the amalgamation our company (MTI) and Continental Precious Metals (CPM). Along with our new name we have also launched a new website. But who we are and what we do, has not changed and we look forward to continuing to work with you.
