That's Just Wrong

MINDFUL MOMENT: Today I watched a video Ross Matthews posted in response to a recent comment made by Milo Yiannopoulos about how horrible it would be for our children to grow up to be like him. What I was so inspired by in Ross's response was his not making it personal nor attacking back, but still taking a simple stand to say the comment made about him was wrong. What Ross was saying was not that Milo's belief was wrong for Milo, but rather it was wrong for Ross and the millions of children and adults around the world who may identify with Ross's way of showing up the world. He so eloquently and simply reminded us all to be just who we are and not make others' fearful attacks true or right for us. In a time when we are called in unprecedented ways to honor each other's perspective and right to create the life we each individually desire, we are also called to stand for unapologetically being exactly who God made us to uniquely be. In work, we are no less called to show up being our uniquely powerful selves. Organizations thrive and innovate when all are encourage to be who they were born to be. And in my opinion, that is exactly what we are paid to do each day (whether stated or not). To all who, like Ross, stand for their rightness to be who they are without making anyone else wrong in their own belief-ness, I bow to you.
