That′s the 8th wrap! And what a wrap it was !

That′s the 8th wrap! And what a wrap it was !

Actually, we wrapped up on the 22nd March but I have needed nearly ten days to absorb, digest and internalize the 8th Neurolanguage Coaching Conference held in Sitges from the 20th to the 22nd March. You know, I guess I am now used to organizing this conference, after all it is my eighth time, but every single time, every single conference becomes a unique experience that actually “blows me away!” And this year was no exception!

What makes it so special? Well, firstly the feeling of connection, camaraderie, cooperation and coherence among participants is key! There is something extremely vibrant and positive to be present in a room full of people from all over the world, who share the passion in what they do; who do not feel competitive vibes; with no judgement of each other, but full of respect and harmony. ??

The conference started on March 20th in the afternoon with a workshop which firstly opened up new ways of consolidating vocabulary and learning and secondly opened the topic of “perspectives” and how to coach our coaches/learners to share more about their perspectives or their way of thinking, because this may be starkly different to our own. As a coach, we really have to open up our peripheral vision in that learning process to capture everything and anything that is going to be key to assist our learner to learn and often we may not fully understand what our learner perceives or comprehends and for this reason, our own awareness of different perspectives could be our own stumbling block. In today′s world, we see how the multitude of perspectives are often misinterpreted and often cause reactions that could be avoided if there had been a wider appreciation of differences to begin with!

Little did I know that the next two days and the whole conference would repeatedly keep bringing us all back to that theme of “honouring each other′s different perspectives!”

I would love to thank all of the speakers for sharing your topics and “perspectives” of these with us – ranging from :

  • A workshop on harnessing character strengths for enhanced learning with George Kokolas:
  • AI and learning from the view of a computer scientist, Laurent and Feriel Tenmar, one of our NL Coaches demonstrating how to use AI wisely:
  • Rob Howard reminding us to harness our own strengths as a human rather than technology!
  • The brilliance of Lonny Gold demonstrating suggestopedia and again the “perspectives” theme:
  • A great workshop on speed reading with Andrea Polverini:
  • How to embrace leadership for humans with Duncan Foord, and an unforgettable matrix diagram with cats!
  • A dive into how nutrition is so important for learning and memory with Virginia Cutchin:
  • An amazing workshop getting everyone moving from Storytelling to Performance with Amanda Croft:
  • A reminder of key points on the brain and learning from Piotr Kalinowski
  • An interactive workshop on Heart Leadership with Irene Viglia Atton
  • A dive into Imposter Syndrome and the research and some moments to work through this with me!
  • A mini workshop with Gary Houlton relating to marketing and NL Coaching:
  • The experience of mastering negative self-beliefs with Angel Reyes Alca?iz and where some of the participants actually got past their own negative beliefs by breaking a plank with their bare hands!

What a roller coaster ride! The most fascinating thing for me this year was – the uncanny feeling that the two and a half days totally collapsed my perception of time! It was incredible, how quickly those days went!

But then why am I surprised! We all know that the father of flow, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, states "transformation of time!" as one of the characteristics of the flow state. In Csikszentmihalyi’s words, flow is “a state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter; the experience is so enjoyable that people will continue to do it even at great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it” (1990).

In addition, many of you know that in one of my recent webinars I spoke about the research on the Syncronization of Brain waves. Could it be that we achieved a collective flow state and also the syncronization of brain waves over these conference days? Hopefully one year we will be able to invite the Neurofeedback specialist, Thomas Feiner back to map out our brain states over those days of the conference!

Heartfelt thanks Gary Houlton, my amazing business partner, his wife Elaine for all her support, to Elsa Sousa who now after ten years working with me and working on nearly every conference, is always supporting us in the background, Michele Wilson for all the support relating to social media and photography, Katarzyna Hylinska also for her photography support and to all the amazing participants who were absolutely phenomenal !
