#Thankyou 10,000x
I find c 10,000 followers on LinkedIn truly amazing, especially because I have zero commercial interest. My contributions are content driven, sincerely interested in liaising and exchanging ideas with inspiring people, aspiring the betterment of internal audit in the corporate ecosystem.
Recently co-authored articles, especially the Gardener article in 2022 (with Prof. Dr. Kim Klarskov Jeppesen ) and the ABC article in 2023 (with Prof. Dr. Florian Hoos ), have been enjoying amazing tractions. Thousands of reads. Most read articles of all time in EDPACS within months. There are (or will be) 25+ translations. Truly amazing.
Ten years ago, in 2013, my presence here started with my PhD thesis about a niche subject. I dared my first blog in March 2013: https://drrainerlenz.wordpress.com/2013/03/14/phd-dissertation-about-the-effectiveness-of-internal-audit-forthcoming-blogs/. My PhD thesis at the Louvain School of Management in Belgium - written in parallel to my full-time job - seeks to expand the common body of knowledge about the effectiveness of internal audit. I am sincerely grateful for the interest of professional peers in my co-authored published articles. A double-digit h-index is quite nice for a practitioner. ???
Since entering the profession in 2007 my purpose has been to make internal auditing more effective in practice. This continuous to be my professional WHY, to say so. I thank The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. for naming me the winner of the 2023 Bradford Cadmus Memorial Award (https://drrainerlenz.wordpress.com/2023/07/10/winner-of-the-2023-bradford-cadmus-memorial-award-thankyou/). I thank Richard Chambers for considering me four times as thought leader in the internal audit profession (https://drrainerlenz.wordpress.com/2022/12/28/thankyou-4x/), first time in 2019, for the past decade.
I am positive, internal auditors can do more, can do better. I am glad to be a member of the project Vision 2035. Supported by an increasing number of professional peers we suggest a mantra, a leitmotif for the betterment of internal audit:
The Gardener of Governance:
Our nature is Nurture
The jury is out. The future will tell.

The internal audit profession will have and will get the mantra & leitmotif, and the professional standards they/we deserve, eventually (https://drrainerlenz.wordpress.com/2023/03/27/kudos-to-all-contributing-to-the-global-internal-audit-standards/).
