11th Annual Camelot Park Turkey Bowl 2019

Thanks(giving) thought

Thanksgiving has grown to be my favorite holiday. I don’t know if you can “inherit” that from parents but it was my dad’s favorite. This year has been challenging in so many ways and I found myself focused on how different Thanksgiving feels because of what I (we) can’t do (including a massive Turkey Bowl we typically host). But my dad didn’t care about anything else other than to have his kids around him (although he probably liked the food and drinks a bit too as he wasn’t a small guy!). Thanksgiving Day also happened to be the day my folks got married. . .so maybe. . .secretly. . .that was part of it for him!

Today was actually the calendar date of my folks anniversary which had me thinking of my dad’s focus of Thanksgiving. I am so grateful my two daughters are coming home, and after the stress of dealing with (and in one’s case having) Covid, a mother-in-law that successfully battled Covid, I am particularly thankful for what I have, and not what is different from year’s past.

I am also extremely thankful for the people and relationships in my life. This includes many of you, and my team. Their commitment to our clients, and more importantly to each other, is what makes this such a great group to be a part of. I am particularly grateful for how they push and challenge me to be better so am thankful for their candor, trust and above it all their friendship that is at the foundation of our team. Thank you!

My dad was a one of a kind, who loved to make people laugh, including calling my office just to talk to my colleague Nik Manzeck! I hope you find the joy of this holiday that he did. I know I will.

And like a great Hallmark movie. . . it just started snowing. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Carver Smith we all have so much to be thankful for especially our families. Our parents and grandparents gave us our history and importance and now we must pass those on to upcoming generations. Thank you for sharing your story.

Carver Smith your parents were both amazing people! Thankful that I got to know them and reconnect with them at different points in my life. Thank you for sharing your story and hopefully the turkey bowl will resume next year! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
