(Sometimes you run into good people at strange places. This is one of those times during the Iran rescue train up period)

We were asked to drop by the logistic support building today. It was quite moving. The “Little Old Ladies” of Fort Apache, as we have affectionately named our home-away-from-home, have a Thanksgiving surprise for us. The head LOL met us at the door and escorted us inside. She made a little speech.

“We are not sure what you are doing here or where you will be going but we know it is important. We weren’t sure if you would be with your families over Thanksgiving so we thought we would put one together just in case. We wish you good luck, and hope you come home safely. You will all be in our prayers.”

It was very hard not to cry.

Thank you for remembering those little old ladies in tennis shoes. They made a difference in my life, too.
