?????On Thanksgiving Day, it has been common for families across America to gather around the table and express thanks for whatever good has been happening in their lives.

?I am not sure if I have ever put my thoughts at Thanksgiving time on a piece of paper; here goes:

?I am thankful for my recovery and wonderful care team.

?I am thankful for my three daughters, who have been so supportive of me during this past year.?I enjoy having them around and watching them “advance in wisdom, age and grace.”

?I am thankful for my friends [yes, there are many of them] who have checked in time and time again and helped me on my road to recovery in small ways, as well as large.

I am thankful for everyone who prayed for me in whichever they did. I believe that prayer works and especially felt “positive vibes” during these past many months.

?I am thankful to be living at Jamaicaway Tower where I don’t worry about stairs and snow and other things which befuddled me for decades.?Living in this building has facilitated my recovery.

?I am thankful for my caregivers who have been with me since I came home.?They come from all over the world and keep me going.?

?I am thankful to live in Boston, the medical capital of the world, where I have access to the best doctors and best medical technology available.

?I am thankful I have an office to go to; that has been very important for my mental health.

?Lastly, luddite though I am, I am thankful for technology which permits me to stay in touch with family and friends of decades duration wherever they may now be living.

?Those of some of the many things for which I am thankful.

II remember when you first ran for City Councilor in 1971. I was driving Joe Moakley and somehow every morning you showed up at the same T stations as us for two months. It was hilarious when you would be late. I always remember the liberal who gave his time to the American Legion Boys Nation every summer
