Christians are to rejoice in fellowship, worship, and devotion to God. Paul gives us another essential work that we must not ignore. The often untapped joy of sharing our faith.
“Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith,” (Galatians 6:9–10 NASB).
As opportunity affords itself, seek friendship with your neighbor no matter what their status is with Christ. Regardless of their age, socio-economic status, or their kindness towards you. We are to do good whenever it benefits anybody else.
Even more, Christians are to be soul winners. We have concern for everyone’s spiritual destiny. People are souls composed of body and spirit. Concern for the total person.
This describes evangelism within meaningful friendship. The vast majority of people come to Christ not through an evangelist on the street or someone offering merely to do good for them. Most come to faith through a friend who cared about them as a whole person.
Remember this as you sit around the Thanksgiving table tomorrow. Come with authentic concern and desire for good to those around you. Let them see who you are so that if the opportunity ever comes to share your faith, then they will listen. Keep sowing for the harvest time comes in due season.
