Thanksgiving or Christmas?

The other day I was briskly walking in our pine tree laden neighborhood with my two lively Jack Russell Terriers, and I started to notice which homes were decorated for Thanksgiving or Fall and which ones were already decorated for Christmas.
Now, I'm a total wait-until-after-Thanksgiving-decorator but this picture had me puzzled.
I mean what are we celebrating here? Thanksgiving or Christmas?
Or did they get so busy that they forgot to remove the pumpkins?
According to Today's Homeowner, nearly 70% of Americans plan to display outdoor holiday decorations. Of those choosing to decorate, 34% will do so before Thanksgiving, while 18% plan to wait until the first week of December.
18%?!?
How did it come to this?
Apparently I'm in the minority on this. And I'm ok with it. As much as I am itching to decorate my home with nativity scenes and Santas, I just can't skip Thanksgiving.
It's been a time of reflection and deep gratitude for the year - even the low times of the year. When I was a kid, I would write a poem every year and read it to my family just before our Thanksgiving meal.
Such a simple act that made an impact.
As I reflect on that act, where did that motive come from? I believe it was God prompting me to remind myself and my family to be grateful. I mean, truly grateful for all that we have.
As you gather around your tables this year, what will you be grateful for? And specifically what in your business are you grateful for?
Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
