Thanksgiving 2017
Greetings -
As I have done since opening my practice, I use this time of year to thank my clients - as well as my family and friends - for your support. I also want to say how much I enjoy my work, especially the opportunity it provides to help people.
For example, clients are relieved when an estate plan long procrastinated is executed. There is promise of the good to be done when a family foundation is created. A donor and charity are pleased when a complex gift agreement is signed. Family and friends are brought closure when an estate is well administered. I appreciate clients who entrust me to help them with these and other matters.
A special mention of my client the MARPAT Foundation, which has made a positive difference in the Washington, DC metropolitan area since 1986. It will close this year. I thank its founder, Mary Marvin Breckinridge Patterson, and the MARPAT board for the support it gave to many non-profits.
If you do not already, I encourage you to think about contributing time and or treasury to make a difference in your community. There are many needs. If you are looking to give time in the District, Serve DC is a good resource (www.Serve.DC.gov). I am a mayoral appointee to its board of commissioners.
Of course, if you have friends, family members or neighbors who might benefit from my services, please let them know I can help. Also let me know if your organization needs a speaker on life planning, charitable giving or non-profit governance. I certainly appreciate your kind referrals and support of my practice. Most of all best wishes for a happy Thanksgiving.
