Thanks for Wearing a Mask
At Kroger, our most urgent priority throughout the pandemic continues to be the safety of our associates and customers.
For some time now, our associates have been wearing masks, and in many locations where mandated by the local government, customers have been as well. Starting today, we’re shifting to require that all customers wear masks in our store locations (with the exception of small children).
We’re taking this extra step now because we recognize additional precautions are needed to protect our communities.
The CDC has stated that wearing facial coverings, combined with social distancing and frequent handwashing, is a proven method to further reduce the spread of COVID-19. We’re asking our customers to join us – to safeguard one another and to help us maintain a safer shopping environment.
When you shop with us, you’ll see prominent updated signage at our entrances, and you’ll hear new in-store audio messaging reminding you to wear a mask. We recognize that some customers, due to medical reasons, may not be able to wear one. We also offer alternative ways to shop using pickup or delivery.
In addition to masks, we continue to limit the number of people in our stores to allow for physical distancing and to ensure that proper cleaning procedures are followed. We’ve also installed plastic partitions at our check stands and other locations. All told, we’ve made more than 30 policy and process changes to protect our associates and customers.
We thank all of you for partnering with us to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Be well. Be safe. Be kind.
Rodney
Thank you for taking this important step to ensure the safety of your customers and communities. It's encouraging to see businesses like yours prioritizing public health. Can you share more about how this new policy will be enforced effectively in your stores?

4 年Rodney, customers in the Auburn Alabama Kroger who are not wearing masks are NOT asked by Kroger employees to do so. I sent a message to customer service and was told that due to HIPPA regulations they cannot ask customers to wear a mask and I was offered the option of using delivery services. I am curious why the non mask wearing customers are not offered these services instead of customers who are following the mask mandate. I'm not asking to violate anyone's medical privacy with an explanation of their medical inability to wear a mask. I just think that this store's policy is backwards on who should be offered the service of grocery delivery in the interest of protecting the health of both Kroger employees and Kroger customers.
