As one of the Founding Board Members of the International Protective Security Board (IPSB), I would like to thank the more than 375 attendees as well as vendors who participated in the recent annual Close Protection Conference (CPC) that was held in Las Vegas this past November. This was our 3rd conference which began in 2016 and was based on the success of the Executive Protection International Conferences (EPIC) held previously the prior 6 years. As far as I know, this was the largest gathering of protectors in the world! To borrow a phrase used years ago (and probably not politically correct these days), "We've come a long ways Baby"!
As has been the tradition that was started by John Jones and a few others before the start of the annual EP conference, we had a pre-conference shooting challenge that was attended by 60 shooters (sold out!). What great fun and a different way to network. There were 6 squads of 10 shooters who shot 6 different stages, mixed with paper targets and steel, and scored on hits and time, which was then posted online for all to see. For some it was a competition and for others a challenge. Either way it was fun! Next year, 100? Why not!
Then the CPC began with an opening networking reception. One thing I have to say, is our networking socials are awesome. A room full of like-minded protection professionals of all levels and experience all socializing in one place. Numerous attendees said that these events are well worth the admission alone. And I would agree, its a great opportunity to casually meet others in the industry in way that could easily open doors for business or casual relationships. For years I have advocated F2F: Face to Face networking! And the CPC Networking socials are the place to do it!
The conference started as we have done the past 3 years with honoring those in our industry who have passed on (such as Dr. Richard W Kobetz, Founder of EPI). We had two days of excellent speakers and panels, lessons learned, and open discussions about our industry. Several new people joined the panels mixed in with several veteran presenters and panelists. Now that 2019 has arrived, it's time to prepare for this years conference. Will you attend? Will you be a panelist or presenter? The time to start preparing is NOW!
Continuously educating and training
5 年Awesome conference again this year ! ( my 2nd) met so many people that I have only chatted with on FB or other social avenues before. The face to face was great and already looking forward to the 2019 conference! Great job by all!!!
