I don’t know if I’m supposed to tell you this, but I’m going to because that’s how I roll.
The doubts I’ve faced, and continue to face, throughout the life of this podcast are overwhelming. My emotional health has been tested as I've taken the vulnerable step of sharing ideas and lessons learned from my years as an executive assistant, trainer, and coach.
It’s nerve-wracking to think about thousands of you listening to me each week. It's painful to read a negative review when I've put literally thousands of hours of my life into this project with the simple goal of helping assistants lead well and resist burnout.
But if I were to refrain from publishing episodes because a few of you don't enjoy the show, or because I'm not as gifted of an interviewer as Oprah Winfrey, then this podcast would cease to exist.
In a similar way, if you wait until you feel like a leader before you begin leading, you’ll never start.
But the fact that so many of you listen to the show every week and let me know the podcast has helped you get the job of your dreams, re-ignite the passion you once had for the assistant role, and more, shows me you’re honored to join me on this vulnerable journey toward embracing our role as leaders.
So thank you for taking a risk by trusting me with your valuable time. May this podcast continue to encourage and challenge us all as we seek to be the confident, game-changing Leader Assistants the world needs.

1 年Thanks for your vulnerability and sharing the reality many of us face. That is how we grow. It is not necessary to be perfect before doing something. It's OK and normal to fail more than once. You won't be everyone's cup of tea or please everyone but that is perfectly OK. I can bet those negative reviewers have not done much beyond their comfort zone. I know many judgmental people who don't do much. It's much more easier to nitpick than take a risk or try something. Some people are so hung up on the fear of failure that it hinders them. I didn't perform as well when I gave a zoom presentation early in the morning at 6am. I was also exhausted from the week. I got a few negative reviews and that was the signal to cut back. I needed a time out.

1 年Negative is where we grow. It is great for you to share how it made you feel and how you intend to make it a learning opportunity for you and for others. :) I just listened to 233 yesterday and it is when we are uncomfortable when great things are happening. Stay healthy and don't burnout Jeremy! :)

1 年Hi Jeremy Burrows, thanks so much for sharing this. I really love your content. Please don't let 1 negative reviewer stop you, you've had a tremendous impact on my work life (probably very unbeknownst to you) and there are so many others that you have touched through your book, your podcast, and the leader assistant community. Thank you for all that you give to each of us! Please don't stop shining, we all are growing because of you!

2 年I appreciate listening to your podcasts. You talk about the topics I need to hear, when I need to hear them. I appreciate the diversity of assistants telling their story. Please keep doing what you are doing.
