Thanks Library Journal for This Great Review
Thanks Macmillan Publishers for showcasing my new book SOMEDAY is Not a Day in the Week in your roundup of non-fiction books for libraries.
And special thanks for including this review:
“In this handy little book, Horn (IDEApreneur) recommends not waiting to build a fulfilling life but starting right now…. Out of literally dozens of tips and ideas, readers should be able to find at least one to employ to make their lives better. Recommended for all public libraries.”–Library Journal
The fact that Library Journal recommends this for ALL public libraries is particularly meaningful because I dedicated this book to librarians for their pivotal role in enriching my life and the lives of so many others.
I grew up in a small town in Southern California and rode my horse to the local library. (Really!) I would fill my backpack with books and gallop home, full of anticipation, eager to read my new treasures. Books were my window to the exciting world that existed beyond our small mountain valley.
As an author, you work "behind-the-scenes," often in isolation. You pour your heart, mind and soul into your book (often for years) and never know how it will be received. There's simply no way of knowing if it will resonate with people and make a difference for them.
So, I am basking in this acknowlegment of the book's value from a profession I greatly admire and appreciate.
A side note: I recently had the pleasure of exploring the Los Angeles Public Library after reading about it in Susan Orleans' excellent THE LIBRARY BOOK.
What a treat it was roaming the halls on the docent tour to learn more about this historical landmark - and what a thrill it was to discover they had ALL my books on their shelves - which is saying something because Tongue Fu! and What's Holding You Back? were published 20 years ago.
I am sitting here smiling as I envision revisiting that library - and many others across the country - and seeing copies of SOMEDAY available for anyone and everyone who wants to read it, for free.
What a satisfying, full-circle experience. What goes around really does come around.
Books are a pebble in the pond of our future.
My hope is that SOMEDAY inspires readers around the world to get crstal clear about what's important in their life, work and relationships and understand it's not SELFISH to bring more of that into their life, it's SMART. Onward.

5 年I love the library. Your tax dollars at work. In fact, reading one of your articles inspired me to seek out Tongue Fu which was on the shelves the whole time. I enjoyed the book and wrote an article about it at the time.?
