Thanks 2024!

Taking a moment to reflect on all the great things that happened in 2024.

• We improved OSM pedestrian data in major US cities through the Walkabout campaign. Shout out to Edoardo Neerhut Said Turksever , and Christopher Beddow for the support kicking off those projects. If you enjoy mapping pedestrian data here is a link to our recent projects.?

• Launched the Pedestrian Working Group with OpenStreetMap US that has a core group of participants actively working on a common schema for ped data. Look for more good stuff from this group soon and a big thanks to Maggie C. for helping get it started.?

• I personally contributed and used Mapillary more last year than any prior year. Maybe because I work with the amazing team Boris Masis Marcie Hogan , or maybe because it's an awesome platform : ) - if you haven’t used it you have a whole year to change that.

• So many good GeoDC events took place, and I connected with so many people for the first time in person there! Tom F. brings the energy to keep them going! Show your thanks and attend a local meetup.?

• Facilitated portions of the 2024 YouthMappers Leadership Fellows program in Thailand. It’s always inspiring to work directly with the next generation of geospatial professionals.??

Too many great accomplishments to list from YouthMappers . The program turns 10 next year, and when Sawan Shariar invited me to talk at State of the Map Bangladesh last month I took the opportunity to reflect on an early project in Khulna which helped conceptualize the program. That project itself wasn’t hugely successful (Khulna is damn hard to map), but it was an important piece that We built on. A good reminder that taking good from bad results in amazing outcomes.?
