Thanking Nurses During Nurses Week

Nurses Week is an annual celebration of the caregivers who truly put the "Care" in Health Care. They are usually the unsung heroes in the medical field that connect with patients the most. While doctors have numerous patients and are busy creating treatment plans, the nurses are keeping the patients comfortable, giving meds and a constant contact for concerned loved ones.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has shed some extra light on these caregivers that are suiting up to continue to help patients in their most urgent time of need. Like so many other professionals, nurses are finding ways to help patients feel as comfortable as possible, while keeping doctors and loved ones informed. Innovation is everywhere in the hospitals right now with tablets being used for patients to see loved ones.

What is more uplifting is how the greater community is rallying to support our healthcare workers. PPE's being crafted out of cloth in living rooms, meals being donated to workers, and words of encouragement written in chalk on the sidewalk. These small reminders of support help these workers continue to stay strong and help us when we need them most.

It was fitting to see the Air National Guard do flyovers across Minnesota yesterday on the first day of Nurses Week. What a great way to show gratitude and our support. Take some time to thank a nurse this Nurses Week. They are there when we need them the most.
