We hope our new #ThankfulThursday reflection finds you well.
Today we write you from Tallahassee, and ask you to join us in congratulating the distinguished jurist and dear friend — The Honorable Justice Barbara Lagoa on her historic investiture as the first Hispanic woman to serve on the Florida Supreme Court.
“I am particularly mindful of the fact that under our constitutional system it is for the Legislature, not the courts, to make the law. It is the role of judges to apply, not to alter, the work of the people’s representatives” - Justice Barbara Lagoa — during her appointment announcement with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
Marile and I know Justice Lagoa as an exemplary member of our community — a distinguished jurist, legal scholar, dedicated wife, talented public servant and "Super Mom".
As proud Carrollton parents, we have seen and admire how Justice Lagoa and her husband Paul C. Huck, Jr. are raising their three beautiful and talented daughters.
Our youngest daughter Saramelia joined us to Tallahassee to cheer on Justice Lagoa and celebrate with her very proud Carrollton Cyclone classmates, friends and team-mates!
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” - Numbers 6: 24-26
We ask that you join us in a special prayer for Justice Lagoa on her investiture and for her colleagues on the Florida Supreme Court that the Lord grant them wisdom to ensure and protect our freedoms, rights and access to justice.
As always, thank you for taking the time to reflect with us.
Know we cherish your friendship and continued support.
Warmest personal regards,
Marile & Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq.
