Be thankful for who you are, what you have

Yesterday when I was serving food to people at an old age home. I met a man. He was frail and old. As if life was hanging by a thread. I felt sad so I gave him a big portion of ice cream. He looked at me and smiled. He called me closer and told me two words - circumstances and regret. He said, "Son, I was rich and educated. I had a PhD and a house and a family, I had cars and money but circumstances were such that I lost everything and wound in a home for the aged." So he said, "My son, always be grateful for what you have. For, you never know how long it will last. The second, he said, was regrets. He explained, "I wasted my life thinking about people who do not matter, things that were useless in the long run and the things that seemed little at that time, like my family, health and my friends. The things that I ignored are the things that I regret not spending time upon." As he enjoyed the butterscotch ice cream he said to me, "Son, respect your circumstances and never leave scope for regret." I left that room with much to ponder upon. #youngvisionaryproject #ishanshivanand
