Thankful for our veterans
Every year, November starts with Americans making their voices heard at the ballot box, and it ends with an expression of our collective thankfulness. I find it fitting that Veterans Day shares space on the calendar with Election Day and Thanksgiving, as it's another important opportunity to demonstrate our civic pride and our gratitude for all that we've been given.
For nearly a century, November 11 has been an official American holiday dedicated to honoring the selfless service members who've fought – and who continue to fight – to safeguard the ideals upon which our great nation is built. First observed as Armistice Day in 1919, and later renamed Veterans Day in 1954, the holiday inspires all of us to pause and honor the service and sacrifices of countless neighbors, colleagues, friends and loved ones.
This Sunday, I hope you'll join me in taking the time to reflect on all that our brave military veterans and their families have done to defend and strengthen our great nation. As a country, we strive for continuous improvement, even though there are no people on Earth more fortunate than Americans. An important part of that journey is always remembering that the liberty and freedom that define our good fortune endure thanks to our brave men and women in uniform.
If you're looking for a way to say thank you to a military veteran, consider signing up with American Corporate Partners to mentor a service member looking to transition to a civilian career.
