Thank you for your support....
Another successful "Men Who Cook" event has ended, proving why it is our favorite event each year. This year's event saw seventeen chef teams of two serving their signature dish to over 400 people and, in doing so, helping to raise money for the SECU Family House of Winston Salem, NC.
Cannon & Company, L.L.P. and Cannon Wealth Management have been proud sponsors of the event for the past eight years. We have also represented each year with a chef team. This year our good friends Joey Perkins, CPA and his lovely bride Billie took on the challenge of making some of the best gumbo I have ever eaten. Their hurricane shooters were also the talk of the table; both were incredible!
Thanks to you, our clients, many friends and family members, and total strangers who wanted to donate to a great cause, they reached the goal they set!! They even blew past it!! Together we raised $5,299.77 in online tips?before the event even started!!!?That means, before anyone took their first bite, we had raised enough money to cover a room for a guest in need for over FOUR MONTHS!!
That is an entire month past the goal we set initially of three months!!! That is AWESOME!
Saturday night's event did not disappoint; it was a foodie's dream come true! A wide array of delicious bites ranging from Spicy Korean meatballs to Shrimp Fried Rice and a wide variety of Mexican dishes! The beautiful backdrop of Legacy Events and Stables provided enough space for the over four hundred guests to mix and mingle before the night's big close – the tally of donations and awards ceremony.

Although we did not take home an award for the best dish (even though their gumbo ROCKED!) or the most online tips raised (we came in fifth), Joey and Billie did come in second place for the "Chef's Kiss" award. This trophy goes to the teams with the most "Individual" donors (49), which means all of YOU!
So, thank you very much!
Ultimately, the real winners are the guests the SECU Family House will be able to continue serving the following year. If you have never heard of the SECU Family House of Winston-Salem or would like to know more about their services here in Winston Salem, I encourage you to tour the House and see for yourselves what an incredible place it is.
The blessings they provide and the haven they offer to those in need are gifts to many deserving people experiencing a medical condition themselves or in town supporting someone they love.?
