Thank You for Your Service, Happy Veterans Day
It has been an exciting couple of weeks combining our Armed Forces and Football. Spent Saturday at the Navy vs. Notre Dame game where I connected with a retired West Point graduate. We had a great discussion and as is common when we finished our conversation, we said to each other “Thank you for your service".
At the end of the game, the Notre Dame team went to the Navy cheering section and arm in arm, sang the Navy Blue and Gold Alma Mater. The Notre Dame respect and engagement with the Naval Academy goes back to 1927. The half-time show paid homage to all military branches and had the Notre Dame Marching Band leading the attendees in the Armed Forces Medley of Salute to Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Air Force active-duty soldiers and Veterans.
Two weeks ago, Jordan & Jordan had their 29th Annual Football Game & Tailgate event at the United States Military Academy at West Point. The tailgate was overlooking the Hudson where our Revolutionary War Veterans placed a chain to stop the British from going up the Hudson. It was adjacent to Trophy Point where Veterans from the Revolutionary War to the Spanish American War are honored.
Above are some pictures from the Notre Dame-Navy game, the tailgate at the Army vs. Wake Forest game, and of an Army soldier in Korea, Lieutenant Jordan.
Our political environment can be intense even to the point of certain factions thinking the flag represents their view. As a proud Veteran, let me be clear, it belongs to all of us. Our Country and our flag exist because of all these Veterans down through history.
Happy Veterans Day.
Thank You for Your Service.
