Thank you Spinneys from a Dad and his daughter

Thank you Spinneys from a Dad and his daughter

At the weekends, I have started taking my daughter with me shopping to give my wife a break. A few months back, I wouldn’t have had the courage to do it, but now she is a little older and me a little more confident in my new role as a Parent, I’m more than happy for the 2 of us to take to the shops.

On Friday, my little Princess was particularly tired and it didn’t take long for her to give me that look that I had been dreading. The look is the ”please pick me up Daddy, I want to nap and it’s not going to happen whilst I’m sat on this hard plastic seat down here in the trolley!” So up she came - all 13 kilos of her - but I hadn’t finished shopping yet and pushing a trolley with one hand isn’t that easy. This is where a 3rd arm would have  come in handy, but I was only born with 2 and one of those was burning with pain supporting the weight of a sleeping Toddler. Anyway, I inched my way up and down several aisles getting most of what I needed as long as it wasn’t on a shelf any lower than my waist. But then it dawned on me that I had to unpack the trolley and possibly bag everything up, but as soon as it was my turn at the checkout, a man dressed in a smart Spinneys uniform appeared out of nowhere and did everything for me. He unloaded the trolley, bagged everything up and even offered to help me to the car. It was a breeze. My daughter by the way woke naturally an hour later with a big fat smile on her face.

This isn’t an advert for Spinneys. It’s a classic display of a Grocery Store adding value through its people who anticipated my needs and made the critical part of my weekend shop a piece of cake. I do most of our shopping at Spinneys or Waitrose, but going forward I will be doing all of it there. And it has nothing to do with what is on the shelves. It has everything to do with the staff, who give me the peace of mind I need to take my daughter shopping with me, let her sleep when she needs to and give my wife a well-earned rest at the weekend. And do you know what? I don't even remember how much the shop cost, because I don't care.

Value beats price any day of the week and that's what's in the DNA of our 1,400 Travel Counsellors around the world. Don't get me wrong, we have an expansive range of very competitive commercial agreements with our network of global suppliers, but we don't sell on price. We sell on 'you can trust us'. You can trust that we will break our backs to book you the holiday that's right for you. You can trust that we will always be there for you.

Knowing that our customers trust us means the world to us and that's why they keep coming back time and time again. For me, knowing that Spinneys'staff are always there for me and my daughter will keep us going back to them time and time again.

It’s not about the food or the holiday, it’s about special people vowing to do the right thing no matter what.

Of course I agree. Anyone in the service industry should have service in their DNA. The customers who entrust us with organizing the most precious days or weeks of the year for them, count on us to build lifetime memories. We are here to take away the hassle of researching, selecting and comparing; to suggest the most appropriate destinations, properties and experiences for each individual holiday; and to constantly deliver more than our customers expect. If we - all 1,400 Travel Counsellors - were not passionate about travel, passionate about our clients' wellbeing and happiness and passionate about service, we wouldn't be here.

Hi Harvey...this is a wonderful experience from a father. In all appreciation for the Spinneys staff, I would suggest share his name publicly, he deserves to be thanked for his customer service and kindness.
