Thank You Scarlet’s Donuts! #PayItForward
If they don’t try it, they can’t possibly have a good experience to let others know about, and we all know word of mouth is one of the most positive game-changers when it comes to a business getting their name out there. It’s a mentality of confidence and belief. But it’s also the mentality of helping people and paying it forward.
I realized just the other day that in the midst of everything else going on in life, I had failed to publish a new article to my articles section. We are coming up on Thanksgiving and the Christmas Holidays, and I was fortunate enough on Saturday, 11/16 to be the recipient of a kind gesture from a local business which made me reflect on my purpose both as a person as well as a business. As a new age marketing company, my goals consist of helping small businesses to the best of my ability by providing a tool that gives them an almost instantaneous communication channel with their customers (95% open rate in minutes). Not only that, but to help facilitate a smooth transition (especially for late adapters) in a dynamically changing market. All in all, ultimately my goal is to always help. Here is a story about a local business in Tupelo, MS that decided to help at a time that most likely wouldn’t have.
After loading our two five year olds (Lydia & Meri-Emmelyn) up to get out of the house for a bit to check out the surrounding area after literally just moving, we cruised down North Gloster Street and came across a quaint little shop called Scarlet’s Donuts. I had heard lots of great things about them from several locals around Tupelo. I had also heard them advertised pretty commonly on Miss 98 (97.5 FM) when I lived in their coverage area a couple years prior. So we decided to pull in to grab a box of donuts which was a pretty common tradition on Saturdays when we lived in Olive Branch.
It was a very clean shop stocked full of freshly baked donuts, even around 11am, and the sweet aroma of warm glaze had us ready to tear into these donuts to see what the local hype was all about. They even had a seating section for kids with crayons and coloring pages, and that’s a huge plus for me. We had chosen a dozen donuts to go into a box, and it was around that time that I realized my debit card wasn’t in my wallet nor my pocket. After looking in the car and still not finding it, it began to appear that we were going to be heading home empty handed to find that card! The friendly staff at Scarlet’s, however, had decided a different outcome though. They weren’t about to let us leave empty handed all because I misplaced my card. It meant more to them for these sweet girls to get their donuts and leave with a smile on their face and the box of fresh delicacies they had just picked out. I was so thankful. This type of southern hospitality and helping of others is something I haven’t seen as prevalent in today’s society as it used to be 20-30+ years ago.
I thought about it on the way home and it hit me when I pulled into the driveway. This kind gesture 100% aligns with the values on which Manic Mobile was built. If they try it they will love it and will be a long term customer. If they don’t try it, they can’t possibly have a good experience to let others know about, and we all know word of mouth is one of the most positive game-changers when it comes to a business getting their name out there. It’s a mentality of confidence and belief. But it’s also the mentality of helping people and paying it forward. At the end of the day, helping people can be the biggest feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment, and can lead to so much more in the end. Scarlet’s Donuts gets it, and their donuts easily score a 10/10!
