11 years ago today I had just finished loading everything I owned (which wasn’t much if we’re being honest) into the back of my truck and started a 400 mile drive that was the first step in the biggest challenge of my life. I had put my entire life’s savings into this crazy dream of mine to create a business that would not only change the standards in our industry, but would provide opportunities for team members, clients, and partners to redefine success for themselves. At 23 years old I was wildly idealistic and like many young people, didn’t know what I didn’t know. I had no clients, no employees, no idea what I was doing, and believe it or not, no place to live. My to do list was just 2 items. 1) Find a place to live, and 2) start cold calling kitchen & bath dealers. 

It’s fun to look back at how far we’ve come in 11 years. We now have a team of 29 amazing and talented people. We’ve built a 25,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art fabrication facility, and deliver about 10 kitchens per day. In a tumultuous 2020, we’re still expanding the capabilities in the fabrication facility, adding several new team members and building a beautiful new 5000 sq. ft. showroom, all to serve our clients even better. 

Writing that last paragraph, I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful. I often get the credit for our amazing story, but none of it would’ve happened without a whole lot of support. That 23 year old driving across the country 11 years ago would’ve been lost without the mentorship from his older siblings (there are too many to mention them all, that’s a story for another time). I can’t thank my family enough for the love, support, mentorship (and the occasional loan as we limped through our first few years). I’m grateful for our vendors as well that have worked through growing pains along with us and have become great industry partners. I’m especially thankful for the our wonderful clients, several of which were on the list to cold call in our first few weeks and are still with us today. And most of all, I’m thankful for our team. I’ve been blessed to work with some incredible people. Their passion, work ethic, and care for our clients and each other inspires me every day. 

There’s one person that deserves a special thank you and a lot more credit than he gets. My brother, Tim, has been with me from the beginning. None of what we’ve accomplished would’ve been possible without Tim. Tim works behind the scenes, running our operations and tirelessly training the production teams. Our continual pursuit of excellence is lead by Tim everyday as it has been for 11 years. Thanks, Tim, for believing in our dream and for taking the plunge with me all those years ago when our future was so uncertain. Love you, brother.
