Congratulations WRNS Studio!

It was both an honor and a privilege to serve as judge for the new Long View award at this year's Northern California IIDA Awards. Thank you IIDA for entrusting me with the opportunity to usher in this new category. Among many interesting submissions, there was a project that stood out, and was deserving of the prize. Congratulations WRNS Studio!

Congratulations WRNS Studio for the lovely Sonoma Academy project, it truly lived up to the criteria in the Long View category.

"Of all entries, this project truly met all of the IIDA Long View criteria and did so with an inventive and beautifully-executed, holistic design. The WRNS Studio project boasts some amazing accomplishments such as net zero energy, minimal waste to landfill and vetting of materials against precautionary chemical lists, but it went above and beyond this by repurposing materials creatively and incorporated lighting designed by the students (end-user) themselves.

Given the size and scale of the project, paired with how the design team collaborated with the intended end-users, demonstrates an honest commitment towards effecting change through design, education and community involvement. The objective to create a lasting design with intent to live beyond this generation was notable."

I look forward to seeing entries in 2020!
