Thank You for the New Roof!

I am grateful for a partner like Charles Antis with Antis Roofing & Waterproofing ! With Orange County Rescue Mission’s 12 campuses and multiple buildings to serve homeless and formerly homeless men, women, children, and veterans, donated labor and supplies make a tremendous difference.

In 2021, and again in September of this year, Charles Antis mobilized Antis Roofing employees and several suppliers to replace two extensive roofs. To kick-off the projects, Wing Lam of Wahoo's Fish Taco and California Love Drop makes sure everyone is fed a delicious lunch. These projects are inspiring examples of people working together to serve their community!

Thx Jim, here’s “why.”?? A year ago, my family accompanied me on a business trip to Chicago, when I had an encounter with a homeless man, Christopher P. …I’d told my 7-yr twins, Charlie & Gracie his story. I wanted them to understand, “Everyone has a name & needs to hear it said.” …Then last week at lunch, back in Chicago, my kids packed their French fries after they saw a man looking thru the deli window. When we left, they spotted him a block away and asked me to bring it to him. When I approached, I said, “Hello, my family saw you thru the deli glass, and thought you might want to share these fries!” His eyes grew big, filling with tears when I mentioned their names. When he could talk, in a quiet scratchy voice, he said, “Please tell them thank you!” I nodded and then asked his name. When I turned to look for my family, I was “full!” Hopeful he felt “seen.” Overwhelmed at how I left him, yet joyous how empathy hits me at home. I spotted Dawn waiving from an Uber. As I got into the minivan Charlie asked, “Dad, what did you give him?” My eyes grew big and filled with tears... Gracie then asked, “Dad, what was his name?” When I could talk I said, in a quiet scratchy voice, “Tony!” We all have a name & a story.
