Thank you Mrs. Covids (19/19)
First off, I want to mention that any practice is grounded in the five fundamental principles of human nature. Slowly getting acquainted with them is necessary to get our minds along on the journey.
Mirror of life practice.
"Simply" observing what happens in our external reality and the reactions that it evokes within ourselves is one of the keys to integrate the process of divine co-creation in our daily life.
It takes practice to observe this way. Our habitual pattern is to identify ourselves with the reactions the environment evokes. Usually, we get absorbed and lost in them. These reactions can be opinions, seeking external responsibility, blaming, praising, commentary of all sorts, ... and so on. The practice is not to stop them from happening, as they contain valuable information, but to register them so you can use them in a later phase. Being aware of them, without carelessly uttering them seems simple, but it is not.
This observation will be comfortable when light reactions are evoked and gets more complicated, the more we get triggered. When are reactions move towards the more alive end of the spectrum, like feeling offended, disgust, and even hatred, the observing becomes quite a challenge as more of our bodies, besides our mental one, get involved.
The second phase is to look at the external situation in the most literal way and describe it for yourself. This means without any interpretations or filters. In shamanism, they look through the snake's eyes, close to the ground, literally describing what is observed. You look from a thrid-persons perspective, like watching a movie. When this is new, writing it down might help as well.
The third phase is to find out what the external situation represents within yourself. Reading and reflecting a little about our partners of co-creation will start you off with the proper information. It is not needed to search for the answers actively, just asking the question "what does this situation represents within me", will do. If you're ready to find out, you will! At times, we need multiple experiences and repeating stories to realize that we are at the source of their creation.
All flowers open in their own due time.
An open and curious mind together with the intend of deepening your honesty and the courage to get to know yourself is all that is required. You will find out very easily is your practice was successful. The next time, a similar situation presents itself, instead of reacting the old way, it won't trigger you as much and due time, it might even bring a smile on your face.
Thank you Mrs. Covids,
Steven.
