After 18 wonderful years at Microsoft, the time has come to start a new chapter in my life.
I am filled with gratitude for the incredible journey that has allowed me to work alongside some of the most talented and amazing people in the industry. Microsoft has not only been a place of employment but a nurturing ground for my passion and dreams.
I am immensely proud of what we've achieved together, working hard to contribute to societal and economic changes, empowering every person and organization across the globe. It has been a privilege to witness firsthand the revolutions from the PC era to mobility, cloud and AI.?
My friend Tom Plewniak and I had the honor of being the first Myskills4Afrika ambassadors. Our on-the-ground volunteer work in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Angola, Namibia and South Africa inspired hundreds of Microsoft employees to volunteer in Africa. This experience profoundly shaped who I am today, and I carry the love of my African friends with me always – muzungo! Ubuntu! ??- Thank you Lutz Ziob Wanjira Kamwere Winnie Karanu – I love you!
It was this very company that bridged two worlds for me, Brazil and Canada. I not only found a new home in Toronto but also witnessed the birth of my two sons. The second most touching moment unfolded on the day I was embraced as a Canadian citizen, with the entire Microsoft Canada subsidiary serenading me with the Canadian anthem—an honor that still resonates deeply within me. Thank you, Kevin Peesker
Canada broadened my perspective and provided a platform to pursue my passion in Accessibility and Digital Inclusion. Collaborating with my Microsoft colleagues and external Accessibility advocates, we adapted environments and tools, empowering millions of people with disabilities worldwide. This effort created employment opportunities and educational access to many talented individuals. Being recognized by Microsoft as one the most influential Accessibility Leaders in the company was truly an honor – thank you Cheri Chevalier Jenny Lay-Flurrie Emma Da Silva Jason (Jay) Brommet and Tania Cosentino for your unconditional support!
I met Satya Nadella twice! The first time to celebrate my Platinum Award, and the second was even more special: I was part of the winning global hackathon team, out of over 17k projects! Our project focused on early seizure detection to support parents and caregivers of children with epilepsy. We utilized the latest AI technology, with funding and support from Microsoft. Sharing our results and insights from the residence was unforgettable. Together we developed an AI Epilepsy App, now available on Apple Store. This experience highlighted for me the profound positive impact AI can have on society, particularly in healthcare. Thank you Roberto D'Angelo Ed Essey Pritika Mehra Jacopo Mangiavacchi and Gabriel Variane
