Thank you, merci, gracias, danke!
As we hurtle at an alarming rate towards the next Celebrate Aberdeen, we thought it was time to pause, catch our breath and say something really important: thank you.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that an event the size of Celebrate Aberdeen doesn’t happen without a lot of extra hands. Read on to find out more about the organisations and individuals to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude…
Aberdeen City Council
Without the support of Aberdeen City Council we simply wouldn’t have Celebrate Aberdeen - fact. They’ve been behind the event from day one – and their backing has continued as the event has grown from the inaugural parade in 2011 to the packed weekend of activities that we are looking forward to next month. As well as providing vital funding, the Council allows Celebrate Aberdeen to use some of its flagship facilities as event venues throughout the weekend. Our thanks go out to both the Council as a whole and our Lord Provost, George Adam, for the ongoing – and much-appreciated – support.
Aberdeen Inspired
Aberdeen’s business improvement district (BID) represents over 700 businesses within our city centre. It exists to help improve and effect positive change in our city centre. As such, Aberdeen Inspired’s backing of Celebrate Aberdeen is a wonderful endorsement of the role the event plays in bringing together the corporate and third sectors in the heart of our city. We are incredibly grateful to have Aberdeen Inspired’s backing – and we hope to help them achieve their goal of increasing footfall in the city centre over the weekend of 27-28 August!
CNR International
Celebrate Aberdeen enjoys abundant support from the corporate sector (of which more later). Our friends at CNR International have, however, been one of the strongest proponents of the event by taking the role as a main sponsor over several years. CSR decisions are difficult at the best of times and, in the current climate, we realise that offers of support are not made lightly. For this reason, we are more thankful than ever to have CNR International on board for Celebrate Aberdeen 2016.
Media magic
Our media sponsors, Northsound 1, ensure that they make a noise about Celebrate Aberdeen – in the best possible way. Their efforts in raising the profile of the event are both hilarious and tireless – think interviews, videos, shout-outs and great coverage throughout the weekend itself. Thank you team Northsound 1!
Great entertainers
Our city is simply bursting with talent in the form of musicians, dancers, comedians and sportspeople. Each participating performer has made a commitment to give their time and talents to Celebrate Aberdeen for the enjoyment of others. Their contribution to the weekend should be recognised and applauded.
Corporate parade sponsors
Every year we ask local businesses to consider supporting one of the charities participating in the Celebrate Aberdeen parade. In return for a modest payment, they partner with one of our parading charities with the inclusion of their logo on the charity’s parade banner. We are grateful to all companies who have already signed up and would urge more to do so here.
Volunteers
There are lots and lots of lovely people who work quietly (and sometimes not so quietly!) behind the scenes to make Celebrate Aberdeen happen. If you want an insight into this studious, introverted bunch of folk, check out the following video from our recent ‘thank you’ event for volunteers here. We think it speaks for itself.

8 年So many charities struggle to get visibility or to be heard. This amazing volunteer driven event allows them to shine. We should be thankful to the volunteers who bring heart back to city and bring attention to these valuable organisations in whom many of us and or friends and families rely. And yes the day after will be life changing despite the state of the streets. Keep up the amazing work folks it's priceless!!
