Thank you for making Voices of Valor a Success!

Last week, Verizon 's VALOR Employee Resource Group and American University 's School of Public Affairs hosted an event to raise awareness about the benefits and importance of VTCs, which promote sobriety, recovery, and healing for justice-involved veterans.

The program began with an overview of the Veterans Treatment Courts and their significance in supporting veterans facing legal challenges, and featured a conversation with four veterans who had successfully navigated the VTC system. They highlighted their personal journeys, the challenges they faced, and the transformative impact of VTC programs. The program also included a panel of VTC professionals who discussed how VTCs, veteran service organizations (VSOs), mental health professionals, and other stakeholders worked collaboratively to support veterans. They identified the ongoing challenges faced by VTCs and explored opportunities for improvement and expansion of VTC programs to better serve veterans in need.

To conclude the program, panelists reflected on the resilience and courage exhibited by veterans participating in VTCs, issued a call to action for continued support and advocacy for VTCs and the veterans they serve, and encouraged the audience to amplify voices of valor and promote understanding and support for veterans in the justice system.
