Two Pigeons, Three Flies, 22 Requests and a Smile!
So last night was my weekly radio show on Shire Sounds Radio and it was certainly one of the most fun shows I've presented since being involved as a presenter.
Having worked most of the weekend on the new #KetteringTogether community video, I hadn't really planned much for my radio show and was limited on time so I decided to ask the businesses who attended yesterday's Kettering Business Network meeting on line what their favourite track was as their choices would make up my radio show.
Well, I can assure you, there were some classics!
Live and Let Die, I've Gotta Feeling, The Best, I Feel Good and plenty more, but it's the Cheeky Girls who have got people talking this morning! Yes, I attended the Invictus online business network meeting and people there were talking virtually about the Cheeky Girls! Olly Clarke, who has been welcomed into the Northamptonshire business community from the South Coast with his exciting puzzle business had requested it as his motivational song and it was certainly putting smiles on people's faces this morning.
What Olly didn't know though was the messages I was receiving my end from listeners saying "What the hell is this!", "Coxy, change the track" and "If I go to sleep with that song in my head, I'm coming to find you!". Thanks Olly!
My show, which you can listen to on Monday's between 6pm and 9pm is always full of fun where I talk about the "Win of the Week", encouraging people to text or email in with their weekly success stories, #MadnessbehindtheMic where I record myself singing a well known song without the sound and then put this out on social media for people to try and guess the track I'm singly (badly I must add) and playing requests for three hours from local people and listeners.
Last night, I was visited by two pigeons who tried to enter the studio via the open windows and three flies who refused to adhere to the 2 metre social distancing measure rules. It's always fun in community radio.
But my biggest smile of the night last night was playing the music of people I know and have met through the various business network circles. It was a pleasure to play their music and receiving the "thank you" messages afterwards was lovely.
I love community radio!
