Thank You!

Thank You!

I went to college with a computer lab and no internet. I didn’t have my own computer until, maybe 2005 or so; I was born in 1974 in Texas. These are relevant.

Perhaps I am old or old fashioned.

This is still important.

Say THANK YOU.

Go the extra step and WRITE THANK YOU.

There is a thing on Twitter right now that says, “I don’t know who needs to this, but…”

Put your clothes in the dryer, get an oil change, tighten the balls on your piercings, etc.

I love this and it is true.

So – I feel like I do know who needs this, and reach out, confirm, follow up, circle back, and say thank you.

When someone sends a gift, they want to know that it arrived and that you liked it.

When I get a gift card, even a virtual, I respond with a note of what I did with it and gratitude.

I have a rule that every time I receive anything in the mail, the sender gets a handwritten note back as a thank you.

This is the un-Amazon Prime tactic.

Anyone can click on something on the internet and it can arrive at someone’s house. The receiver can anonymously send something back. Or – you can break the Prime cycle and make a connection with the person.

I have friends that send me pictures of flamingos because I like flamingos and Amazon doesn’t make a dime off our connection. We send each other cards, and though with distance between us, when we get the opportunity, we are connected with eye contact because our relationship matters and is rewarded with gratitude.

I am certain you need to write someone back, call someone back, hell, email them back. Just do something back.

Thank you!

I’m a big fan of please and thank you. It brings civility and even smiles to people‘s faces. Thanks for the reminder Jess.

This is great Jess Pettitt. I make my kids write thank you notes because people need to know their gifts arrive. I do make concessions and let them make a video thank you, but it has to be meaningful and creative. It's an art that reminds people of how much we all need to be valued in written word.?
