How to write a thank email after an interview.
Yes, even in our technologically laden world, the little things still matter.
It’s very important to always do your absolute best to check all the boxes on an interview.
You should not minimize the importance of poise, manners, and the ability to communicate effectively. ???
A brief, but specific thank you note after an interview still carries some weight.
Begin with a formal greeting.
If unsure of the spelling of the person’s name go to their LinkedIn profile or company website.
Express gratitude for the opportunity to meet with them.
Be specific about what you are thanking the interviewer for. For example, you could say, "Thank you for taking the time to discuss the details of the role and how my skills align with the position requirements."
This shows that you paid attention during the interview and appreciated the information that the interviewer shared with you.
Mention specific details that were discussed during the interview.
I see candidates miss this one.?Be specific vs. generic.
One effective way to make your thank you email stand out is to mention some specific details from the interview that you appreciated. This shows that you were fully engaged and attentive during the interview and helps you reinforce your skills and qualifications for the job.
For example, you could mention a question the interviewer asked you that you found particularly thought-provoking or challenging.
You could say, "I appreciated your question about how I would handle a difficult client. It gave me the opportunity to showcase my problem-solving skills and experience in managing challenging situations."
You could also mention something you learned about the company or the role during the interview. For example, "I found it fascinating to learn about the new product the company is launching and how my skills could be valuable in its success."

If there were multiple interviewers, send each of them a separate email.
I see many candidates miss this one as well.?Again, be specific as to your conversations with each of them as the interviewers may compare notes.?Show that you are willing to draft separate personalized thank you notes to each of them.
Reiterate your Interest in the position and the company.
Next, it's important to reinforce your interest in the position and the company. Let the interviewer know you are excited about the opportunity to work for the company and explain why you would be a good fit for the role.
Offer to Provide Any Additional Information or Clarification.
As you wrap up your thank you email, it's a good idea to offer any additional information or clarification that the interviewer may need. This demonstrates your willingness to go above and beyond and your commitment to ensuring you are the best candidate for the position.?It also affords you the opportunity to circle back and close any open loops.
For example, you could say something like, "Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions or if there is any additional information that I can provide to support my candidacy."
Close strong.
The closing of your thank you interview email should be professional and polite, leaving a positive final impression on the interviewer. Use a closing statement that is courteous and respectful… and remember to reiterate your appreciation for the opportunity to interview for the position.
For example, you could say something like, “Again, I would like to reiterate my appreciation for the opportunity to meet with you.?I look forward to continuing the conversation.”?
Be sure to double-check your email before sending.
Imagine writing the perfect email only to be sent out with typos and bad grammar??Ugh….
Proof your email, use spell check.?Also have someone you trust proofread it for you.?It’s so worth the extra effort.?
Again, the interview process is an exercise in salesmanship.?It’s very important to do everything you can to sell yourself not just on the technical skills that you bring to the table.
You only get one shot at a first impression!?
Make it count!
Feel free to reach out to me as I would welcome the opportunity to prepare you for your next interview.??
