Thank you...

Thank you...

To Dannon Redd, who first hired me into Siemens Wind Power which later became Siemens Gamesa, thanks for taking a punt with an engineer from Ramb?ll, bringing me to Denmark and exposing me early to some of the greatest challenges of my career. You taught me in my first weeks about the importance of building a global network of great people, who showed me varied approaches and looking back have shaped what has now become ‘my way’. Thank you;

Soeren Neckelmann for finding and nurturing talent from universities, investing the time in them and making sure they have meaningful work where they have the opportunity to grow, such as Victoria Bülow who entered meetings and was happy to be vulnerable, throw the ego out the window and have the confidence to ask questions, why sit there without the answers? As a result grew from the most junior to all knowledgeable in just a few years, and quickly became a vital member of the engineering construction team. I miss our weekly trips to the pre-assembly sites, endless fun. Yniel Sandberg who always had 10 improvement initiatives on the go because the status quo was there to be challenged - when someone has a good idea it's their responsibility to own it and run with it until the job was done, you can change a huge multinational company if only you dare to try. Sandra Them, thanks for introducing me to JIRA, that changed everything!

Jacob Nielsen for the passionate afternoon conversations at our desk about what ever topic was challenging us at the time, disguised in laughter, I always came away with a new perspective and fresh dichotomies which needed resolving, you kept work interesting. Olivia Larson, who gave me early and novel insights into finance, strategy and a toolbox of approaches to handling corporate communication, I’m not sure how many times I’ve picked up Crucial Conversations, I’ve still not finished it ??… Allan Larsen, who in the time I’ve remained at SGRE, left to start what became a hugely successful company and then merged/sold it into being part of an even bigger adventure, you inspire me to be bold, if the opportunities aren’t there, make your own, trust in yourself and take a big new step. The clock is ticking and although you shouldn't rush your way through it, you also shouldn't stick around if things aren't right and miss out out on what could have been.

Andrew Elmes who is one of the best project directors I know, you genuinely make everyone feel heard because you listen intently, you make sure the most junior in the room has a voice and that good ideas for a project can and do come from anywhere, you're a sparing partner, you’re collaborative, structured, good fun at the pub, get excited about the engineering behind the things we’re building and have a unique ability to build the best project teams, it’s not a coincidence - the best want to be lead by the best.?Andreas Heckert, every conversation with you has been memorable, from the first beer we had at the onboarding event in 2014 to the chat we had some years back in Hamburg where the advice you gave laid the path to get to where I am today. Your smile and relaxed but serious attitude is a joy, you're a deep thinker which I love, thanks for all the advice.

Bent Christensen who built a global department with a deep care for the individuals who made it and knew that a process, although necessary, was nothing if the people were not invested first… I’ve never been more clear about a departments goal and what it meant for me. Heidi Klose who is one of the best strategic thinkers I know, business and the success of initiatives comes down to the people behind them, their perceptions, fears, ideas and priorities. You forced me, kicking and screaming, to improve at PowerPoint, I’m still not great but I now know the importance of using data and drawing information in a way that is digestible and gets the right key message across effectively. You used xMind for the engineering 'North Star', this opened my mind and has become close to an obsession with mind maps, so much to learn from you and not enough time. Thanks for giving me a masterclass in what a great manager looks like. Satya Tanner, for opening my eyes to Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, the beauty of systems engineering?which I now can't help but see and judge in every restaurant or airport security queue I find myself in ??. Mette Agergaard, you've helped me through some of my biggest change management failures, nothing is too big to be solved if you've got some fresh coffee, a clear calendar and a room full of blank white boards. Thanks for the laughs in the lowest times! Chris Ventre who through working on the special Walney project taught me to always have a clear answer to the question: "What do you need to be able to succeed?" often failure isn't an option and as a project manager you need to be able to communicate clearly the path to ensure it's a success. Good lesson.

Ruediger Urhahn who called me one evening on my way to go surfing and asked me if I would like to manage my first team, thank you for such a vital opportunity to grow, showing me the importance of caring for the team no matter what, you brought your whole heart to the office every day and we loved you for it. Ana Capiscol, one evening I asked why you were working late and you said you were just too into your work to leave, I asked how you maintain a constant level of interest and enthusiasm and you said without a second thought "work is how you look at it...": everything is an opportunity to learn, your enjoyment of work was proportional to the amount you’ve been able to shape it to make you learn something new, to keep it interesting, to set a new standard or develop a new approach, I couldn’t have managed that team without you and the team you manage now are so lucky to have you. Elizabeth Nielsen who took a room full of ideas and processes and distilled it into the most rock solid IMS, it was an incredible amount of effort and really changed the game for the team, thank you for putting up with me ??. Simon Barclay for your infinite wisdom, your knowledge of personal professional development, how to build a team, to structure a workshop, to present to 500+ people clearly, for all the things I've learnt from you and for how much you've cared for so many people. Dana Teml?v, as a manager you need to grow a thick skin, quick, thanks for all the support when I was such a junior manager, taking the time with me and supporting me through all sorts of situations!

Christoph Neemann who inspired a digitalisation movement in SGRE before anyone knew what that word meant, digital transformation is a journey which everyone needs to be part of and that progress happens when the typical barriers from IT or reluctance to move forward are broken down at every level, give the people what they need and they'll do great work. Incredible game changing technology can be developed by engaged motivated cross functional teams, I’m so glad to have been part of your journey. Ken Kaiser you’re all about team, the organisation you have created of empowered and motivated employees, it’s been incredible to see you operate over the years, the subtle details of how you speak in meetings and the force you bring to be the best in class is inspiring not only to me but the entire organisation you run. You promote, celebrate, support and do it all with a laugh, you know what is going on at so many levels but also step back with trust to let us get on with it. You set the bar high, have ideas which are rooted in the knowledge of exactly where to press the thumb, and as a result your factories are a dream!

Richard Batur you are walking evidence of the skill and dedication required to get a truly innovative product over the line. You’re the embodiment of a product manager and I admire your constant commitment to keep pushing until the job is done. It’s one thing piecing something together in a garage, another thing entirely rolling out a production capable system in factories across the globe, and doing so with a big smile. Poornima Biradar for the endless lessons in machine learning, computer vision, data science and everything you did to win us the Microsoft competition, you were so much fun to work with and a testament to what is possible with remote working! Sergio Dominguez, I wouldn't have survived without our little chats, keeping it light when things get heavy, you reminded me clearly that work is a lot about having fun... if you’re not having fun then you’re doing it wrong. Hendrik Guelink you always had my back, with your feet firmly on the floor of reality, working with you was easy, fun and productive. If you were just my internal customer, then at this you were perfect... but you were so much more than that, a partner, promoter and a huge motivation. Thanks for always being one step ahead.

Finally; Andreas Nauen who lead our company through the hardest time in it’s history and did so with energy, care and integrity, through the interactions we had, typically regarding digital transformation, you were engaged and passionate about the products being developed. You saw the importance of regularly catching up with the whole company and keeping an open and honest Q&A dialogue, speaking simply without fear where the culture and the tone of the workforce matters. It's been interesting to see this company evolve over the years, looking back it's very different now to when I started, but I can’t imagine this company without you ????

Cheers all, it's been a blast! ??

Thank you Finn ?? I have always admired your huge energy and passion you have for the things you enter. To me it is always great when a colleague comes with a tricky question or a new way of seeing things. That's how we find the best solution. I wish you all the best and may the wind force be with you ??
